The Qamari Dance Collective is a collaborative of dance artists based in Asheville, NC. Mahsati Janan created the Qamari Dance Collective in 2007 to encompass professional instruction and performance in multiple styles of Raqs Sharqi, commonly known as belly dance.
The Qamari Dance Collective isn't about making a single look or style and it isn't a traditional type of troupe. It's about bringing together awesome dancers who have their own styles. Qamari's focus is on dancers who have all reached a high level with their own dancing and are still open and willing to learn and collaborate with other artists. Any dancer interested in working with us as part of Qamari can email for more information.
Banat al-Qamar is Mahsati Janan's student troupe and is the Asheville student face of the Qamari Dance Collective. Their passion for learning and progressing inspires us all to greater heights. Luna, Saghira, Danae, Johanna, & Jolie make up Banat al-Qamar.
Members of the Qamari Dance Collective and Banat al-Qamar are available for local and regional performances and would love to be part of your next event.
Weekly classes, workshops, and private dance lessons are also available. For more information on classes taught by members of the Qamari Dance Collective and director, Mahsati Janan, please visit our dance instruction page.
